Hi , finally made my mind up for definite. Here's the set up..... final and definite decision..... :hyper:
I have Elite 95ltr 80cm(l) x 30cm(w) x 40cm(h), currently running with Tetratec EX700 external filter, black background fitted the other night, waiting on Hagen Power-Glo 20w. Hydor 200w external heater (to be added). For substrate I would like to use a little crushed coral sand covered over by eco complete african cichlid sand (black). A couple of pieces of Ocean Rock and maybe some black shale tiles to stack and make a few elevated caves. Oh yeah and shells (Escargot , to be added).
Stock - initially 6 Neolamprologus multifasciatus ..
I am now really really stuck what else to put in the tank...... Like the look of Julidochromis transcriptus , julidochromis dickfeldi. :D
Tempted adding a Bristlenose Plec to the mix but not sure if that would be wise.  Really would have liked Synodontis multipunctatus but I know the tank is way to small...
Any stocking ideas ?, looking to have the multis on the bottom , maybe a couple (if ok to do so) julis slightly higher up in caves and maybe another 2 or 3 of something else?
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated....... :good:

Hi check out my signiture. I feel your tank is a little on the small side for a Tanganyika set up but keep the numbers low and supply loads of hidey holes.
If you want a plec then why not try a Red Violet Cochliodon(L137) instead of the bn.

Hi there cheers for the reply , been checking out some of the specimens you have in your tank , all very attractive fish but as you said my tank is too small.
Was thinking 6 Neolamprologus Multifasciatus , maybe 1 or 2 Julidochromis Dickfeldi amd hopefully 1 Neolamprologus Leleupi ( )
Don't know if tank size would still be an issue here ?

Red Violet Cochliodon(L137) been looking on a few sites but very little informayion regarding this very nice looking plec.
Do you know how big they get , and are they meat or veg plec ?
Cheers :good:

Wow, a member who has been told that their tank is too small for their intentions and they took it. :good: WELL DONE YOU :good:

The little shell dwellers will be fine as long as you have loads and loads of shells and if the footprint of the tank is quite big for the height which I think it is.

Can I suggest a couple or three cyprichromis leptosoma as they occupy the midwater and look fantastic. I think they are related to the leleupi but are far less aggressive.

The pleco I suggested will be too big after a year or two.....sorry, but a pleco is a good idea as algae on rocks can be a pain. I personally don't like B/N as they are wierd and everyone seems to go for them. (and by going for Tanganyika cichlids instead of malawis shows you like to be different :shifty: )

Talking of rocks you may be interested in these (I have ten in my set up and they look amazing!) http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/fish/decoration/artificial_rock/40952

Hi , cheers for getting back to me. Will check out leptosoma again , was looking at them last night , yellow tails and blue tails , also some purple ones , think the tank might be a bit tight but Ill check again , fingers crossed.
Shame about the plec though , looked really nice too
Checked the link , I have used that site a few times now and will definately use again... was originally thinking about these http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/fish/decoration/natural_decoration/natural_rocks/43353 to make a terrace or "cliff" with a few caves, then a couple of these http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/fish/decoration/natural_decoration/natural_rocks/43353 ....But now I've had a look at the coral again you have got me thinking , might not use black sand either.....
Cheers for the extra info, hopefully can find USB for digicam and maybeget some pics up , maybe enter tank of the month
Cheers again.... :good:

Cool background, I just used a plain black one stuck to the outside
Now that I see the coral rocks I could be tempted , is that real wood in there , I take it with all the coral the wood does not affect the pH?
Wheres all the fish?

The wood is fake too so no issuses there! That picture was taken about 10 minutes after the fish had been transfered so all were hiding. Bit different now though
