Talked Someone In To Giving Me A New Tank

Oh sorry, I was reading fish in your sig, not the ones coming with the tank. Should be fine.. But if you do put your heater in the bucket, I may melt a hole in the side..

Its all fine :) The fish are settled in to a heated and filtered large bucket of water. The heater isn't directly on the side of the bucket so its fine. There is a tiny cat fish thing that i will need ID'ing at some point, a cherry barb and about 8 neon tetra's. Some don't look the healthiest and have rather bent spines :/

So i got the tank. its 2 and a half foot long, just over a foot deep, 1 and a half foot high. According to the calculator above it will hold 118litres(?)
Its not massive, but i love it :D

It was super filthy. I can see why she wanted rid of it. I took the gravel out and dragged the tank (with help) in to the garden and bleached it all down. One wipe and the algae covered glass was clean :/ I imagine that they left the lights on all day long (like 14 hours) which is why they had such an algae problem and why cleaning was such a pain for them. There is a big Eheim external filter. Not sure on the type though (i only had a quick glance). I have pictures of it all but can't find the cable for my camera - typical!
My mum is furious and hasn't spoken to me all day since i brought it home. she will get over it :)

Got the sand sat in buckets in the garden. Attempted to wash it out this afternoon but had to cook dinner (re-payment to the boyfriend for driving me round all day :) ), so ill give it a huge rinse out on Saturday when im home. Went to a few LFS' to have a mooch and ofc i bought two plants, but thats another story for a new planted journal

Doing some research and it seems i need to get some more cherry barbs and corydoras (once its been ID'd). Not sure how this will look in my tank overall with four shoals of different fish :/
