Is there any way to tell if a betta is a pure strain by just looking at its fins? I can tell pk females from veil females, but does that mean the pk female is pure if i can identify it? How do i tell if the male is pure?

i think the only way to really tell for sure is to purchase a betta from a breeder who' been working on a specific line although sometimes it's obvious by the fins. For PKs, though, I'm not sure. always hard to tell on short finned bettas, it can hide a lot.

a good way is to familiarize yourself with the plenty of show betta pics that you can find on the net, in time you'll be able to just look at a betta and know the likelihood of its genetic structure and ow pure it could be.

you may have a male lets say a vt and you breed him with a vt female. You might see some combtails come out of it becuase on of them had ct in there lines. Looks can be desieving.

too right. i paired a marble vt with a wild type pk male, got spade-tail-ish males, and a few cambodian girls, and a couple of CT
