Hi

Need a new light unit for my Juwel Vision 260. It is stocked with cichlid's and no plants.

What do you recommend T5 or T8 replacement. I haven't got plants to worry about but wondered if the T5 might improve the light and enhance the fishes colours at the bottom. I know a T5 and the bulbs are slightly more expensive but just wondering about the difference they would make.

Thanks

Fiona

If you are getting a whole new light fixture, you go with whichever fixture gives the most light output. I am not familiar with that particular brand because we cannot get any Jewel equipment here. You will need to actually check the available light fixtures for your tank model to decide which works out to give the most light. You should be aware that equal wattage for a T-5 and a T-8 means more light coming from the T-5. Things like restrike fit into the equation and make a thinner tube always a better choice in terms of light output per watt.
