Does anyone know whether i could use the lights in the link on my tank?
I've recently bought a 48" lighting hood for my 4ft tropical tank but the bulbs that came with them are blue and white.
They're mainly used for marine but was advised you can also use them for tropical.
They are great lights and really do bring out the colour in the tank but i prefer the tropical lighting.
I don't really want to pay out another £40 or so for two new tubes but if possible, could i use cheaper lights?
I know the tropical ones are specifically for tanks and the light they give off but has anyone ever used cheaper bulbs instead of the dearer ones?

Is your tank planted? That's the biggest factor when choosing lights, if there are plants just make sure the bulbs put out the proper spectrum (around 6500k) and will penetrate the water enough for your specific plants. If its not planted then it really just comes down to how you want the.lighting to look.
