well, he arrived here alive and well. he was COMPLETELY WHITE when I brought him in (guess he doesn't like to be shipped ) but he's acclimating right now and is coloring up and very angry about being stuck in the bag. Which fish are his parents, synirr, and about how big were they? if he stays about this size he really won't need a tank bigger than the 2.5 i set up for him. he's quite wee

i'll post pictures when he's settled in

He's about 8 months old now, so aside from the slow growth as he ages, he'll stay about that size. That was the average size of the spawn, basically... a handful were a bit larger, and a few were even smaller

cool cool... he's a funny little guy. takes HUGE breaths. no little sissy sips of air like the other bettas. he's a manly man anyhoo, i've settled on calling him Kiet. It's a Thai name.

but i gotta get going. Just had my first tank breakdown. It's my fault (i'm stupid). the entire bottom of a ten gallon cracked and all the water came gushing out. thank god it was just the betta tank and i only have three fish to rehome (which i can do with minimal trouble)! The only thing I could do was throw fish in the nearest containers and then let the water fill the containers as it gushed out not fun for 2 AM. I have to go dismantle my dresser now

oh look what a cutie :3 he decided to use a different shade of lipstick than blondie though =/. that brown lipstick totally matches his body. synirr's bettas have a keen fashion sense eh?

y'know, synirr, i honestly didn't realize just how small your fish were -lol- I like the smaller bettas, but he is far and away the smallest one. I don't think i could breed him to my DT girl if i wanted to. I think she'd eat him

Sorry to hear about your tank breaking this morning! I'd be in such a panic if that ever happened to me!

no time for panic or the fish would be out of water! two males and a female also don't make for easy transferring, but once i got past the initial "ohmygodwhatamigoingtodo!" i grabbed and empty 2.5, a 1 gallon critter keeper, and the 3 gallon bucket i use to clean tanks, dumped the fish into those and placed them into the water flow. After that nothing to do but sit around and, well... look like this guy until the water stops.
