On the surface of my tank, there is a slight oily appearence, its not thick by any means but looks kinda dusty too. I dt know what it is, i have ust changed gravel, but all i really wanna know is there anything i can do with my external fluval filter to stop this, and is it going to cause any harm to my fish.

Nothing to worry about have you been feeding frozen or freezedried foods, just remove with kitchen paper if it irratates you, just float the paper on the surface then remove.

nope no frozen foods, just flakes and bloodworms. i disturb the suface with an airstone but that dusnt really get rid of the situation, it just disguises it lol. il try the kitchen towel thanks.

If you have been using blood worms they do make the surface of the tank oily.

i just wokeup this morning and the surface looks like its got a layer of dust on it too? where has this come frm?

Need to look at water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
