I'm converting my 33 gallon from a community tank to a new world cichlid tank. Any and all suggestions/advise is appreciated. Thank you.
Tank dimensions are 36"L 12"W 18"
It is a planted tank with hardy plants. Sword plants, valsneria, Cobomba, and a java fern.
Wood and rocks present, lots of cover.
Very soft water, Ph stable around 6.5 or so.
Thanks all.

rams
any of the Apistogramma cichilds

they wil not eat plants and are beautiful fish

they are less aggressive than most cichilds

Apstogramma, Rams, Keyholes.

edit:
Personally, I would choose apistos. With the setup you describe and a nice low pH you have the opportunity to keep some of the more difficult (and beautiful) apistos, like elizabethae, trifasciata, bitaeniata, etc. Some species have incredibly beautiful females like panduro and nijsseni. Google these names for images and be amazed.

you may also consider nannacara [ golden eye ], or lateacara [ curviceps/dorsiger] species ............

though west african , somewhat similar in requirements are pelvicachromis species [ kribs]
most common is P.Pulcher [ obviously] .......P.Taeniatus is said to be less aggressive than pulcher , but a little harder to aquire [ makes it more fun :) ]

rams would work as well

I like apistos too ;)

Tbar Cichlid Cryptoheros Sajica (Archocentrus Sajica, Cichlasoma Sajica).
Gotta love them. Pretty, fun to watch, will go in your tank, will leave plants alone and generally a cichlid! :D

I have never heard of or seen a Tbar cichlid. Are they easy or hard to come by?

Well here in Somerset UK i spent a long time to find them and nearly gave up but stumbled upon them at The Aquastore in Weston-Super-mare. No where else since have i seen them. I dont know the availability of them outside of Somerset. Im sure you can just ask for a good shop to order them in.
