Is it getting any better ???
I was hoping to have this all fixed before the platy fry arrive. I'm guessing in 2-3days

Ammonia - 0.50
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 5


December 19 ~ immediate water change (3hrs later)
Ammonia - 0.25


December 20 ~ before water chaqnge
Ammonia - 0..25


December 21 ~ before water chaqnge
PH - 7.8
Ammonia - 0.25
Nitrite - 0.25
Nitrate - 5





UPDATE ...
December 22nd readings (just did a 85% water change)

PH - 7.8
Ammonia - 0.50
Nitrite - 0
nitrate - 5

0 is good. Any amount of Ammonia is potentially dangerous. More water changes needed unfortunately, but definitely and improvement on 19th.

How big are the water changes you are doing? You want to be doing around 85-95% ideally.

I've been doing 50-60% water change

Well if you imagine you have 1ppm of Ammonia, and you do a 50% change, thats now down to 0.50ppm, which is still lethal. Any amount of ammonia or nitrite should be dealt with via the largest water change possible. A 90% change would bring it down to 0.10ppm which while not ideal, it still better than 0.50ppm.

Bigger water changes needed
