My 55 gallon planted is up and running and doing great (pearling and everything, though I haven't gotten my cannister yet). I've gotten rid of stock that didn't quite fit (or moved it to the QT tank to cycle it) with everything I have left in the tank things I'm pretty much set on keeping.
Going over my stocking, it seems a bit light, even when I replenish my denuded stock. Here's what I have.
5 Pseudomugil Gertrudae (want to get at least one more)
2 Glowlight Danio (want to get at least four more)
12 Ember Tetra
2 Otocinclus (will get one to four more)
1 Siamese Algae Eater (he's the whale of the tank by far - wouldn't keep him except he stops BBA attacks)
2 Peacock Gudgeon (mated pair, hoping they lay eggs soon)
13 Corydoras Habrosus (eleven of these are waiting in my brand spanking new QT tank)
Cherry Shrimp
Malaysian Trumpet Snails
By my own accounting of the stocking levels of the tank, I have some leeway in there, especially considering the eventual planting levels. I enjoy most fish that are 1.5 inches / 4 cm or less. Partially this is because I want to give my cherry shrimp offspring the best chance of survival, partially because I feel it's easier to make a varied community with large shoals if you keep the individual fish size small, and partially just because I like them. I can be swayed with slightly larger fish if they serve a use (see my SAE), or if they're something peaceful and interesting, but don't think for a second you'll convince me to stick an angel in there or something (bleh!).
I like the most: catfish, rare livebearers, cyprinids, oddballs, and killifish.
