Suggestions For Large Solitary Commuinity Fish.

I think they're only marine.....I remember coz I was momentarily excited when I saw the words "Dwarf Angel" lol.

nah lol all angels get about 5-6 inches long and very tall, i suggest

gold gourami

opaline gourami

boesmani rainbows

all nice n cool fish

also ... leopard bushfish are real real cool ... but they prey on small comunity if the rest you have are all bigger than neons it would be fine .. .they are kinda like mini datinoides

How about some shrimp?

I would say freshwater lobster/crabs but i always worry that they'd eat the fish

I agree Gouramis are a good option. The moonlight ones are lovely I think, just a bit big for my tank.

thanks all, shrimp are a plan, once we have a few more hidey holes and foliage...

we both like the gourami's but really wnted something abit different as the fish we have so far are the normal run of the mill stuff, i fancy something 'diferent', really like the jack dempsey's but they appear to get too large and dont do well in a community...

as for the boesemans, apparently they need to be in groups?

what about a pair of blue rams?

Hi all, please could you advise based on the following?

Tank is 48x16x15
Water stats are: 23-25 degrees, Amm 0, Nitrite 0, nitrate 0-10 GH 7-14, KH 3, Ph 6,8-7,2. Like this for two weeks with one 20% water change.

Tankmates so far are:

6 longfin zebra danios
8 rummy nose tetra
6 peppered cory
Have bogwood, two 100l/hr filters two heaters and good range 3 foot flourescent tueb that goes on for 5 hours in the evening, natural light for the rest of the day.

Right, we intend to get one clown pleco and 8 -12 platy's today.

However, we wnt to have either one, or a pair of large (4"-6") solitary slow moving fish... like the oscars look. But obviously needs to get on with our current stock!

Any suggestions or advise appreciated!

Matt

I've read a lot about the snakeskin gourami. it gets up to 8 inches and is known to be one of the most peaceful gouramis around. it would make a great show fish... but if you get a pair, be aware that they produce an outrageous amount of fry.

what about a pair of blue rams?

Blue rams need warm (28-29C) water that is very soft with a low pH. Pretty specialist, IMO. I know some people keep them in other conditions but they tend to be experienced keepers.

Bolivians are a better alternative if you like rams, or maybe some apistogrammas?
