I know there is a topic in the newbie section listing fish that can be kept in 10gal.. I read over it... but I want to hear from all of you suggestions I could keep in a 3 gallon hex tank.

I know not alot can go into it due to the small size, and more than likely we'll end up just getting another betta for it, but some more options (since fiance really doesn't want me to get another betta) would be nice.
:)

You basically have 4 choices:
shrimp
snails
African Dwarf Frogs
Betta

I forgot Dwarf puffers.
But I thought shelldwellers needed at least 10g?

Yeah I was afraid of those 3 options.
A shrimp tank wouldn't be so bad if anywhere around us actually had more than just ghost shrimp...
but I do not want to keep frogs or snails.

As for a dwarf puffer.
They're SO cute but I dunno if it's the right fish for us. I'll have to look up more info about them.

Shelldwellers... I've heard them mentioned here, but I'm fairly certain I've never seen them at any of the places around us before.

We'll just probably get another betta which is fine with me, but I thought I'd at least try to find more options for fiance's sake hehe

Oh and thanks a bunch everyone that replied for the suggestions! Much much appreciated!

Scarlet Badis
Bumblebee Goby (small enough you could probably fit two or three alright)

OOO I just looked up the scarlet badis b/c I didn't know what kind of fish it was... wow.. those are some really cute fish! Unfortunatly, I don't think I've ever seen them sold before.

As for the bumblebee gobies. We have 2 in our main tank and I don't think a 3 gal would be good for more than 1 really. I see how they get at eachother when they get close to one another in the 28gal.. can't imagine what they would do if they were stuck in a tiny 3gal.. ya know?

You can buy fish or shrimp online. Liveaquaria is a really good site, there's a good selection and good prices. Shipping is a little high but they package it amazingly well. Styrofoam boxes with heat or cold packs, the fish have always arrived healthy. Customer service is the best i've ever seen.

a betta or i think you can put a neon in there i dont know though. otherwise small invertebrates mabee a red clawed crab

A single Brevis, Occellatus or maybe Multi could live there with proper maintanence done on the aquarium. They don't need as much room on their own as when they're in a group and need a larger territory.
