right at the moment I have 3 tanks:- 350l with big agressive chiclids, 120l partially stocked, planning on gourami's and dwarf chiclid's and a bit of ground crew, 75l (ish, can't remember) also partially stocked, planning on making it a livebearer tank.

getting another 120l tank in a week or so from a work colleague who doesn't want it. Taking her full set up, fish, filter etc, she's currently got angels in it and my fella has an angel tank so they'll be dissapearing over there. Kind of at a loss what to put in the new tank. Originally we'd planned malawi, but I think the tank's just a little too small to do it easily, also have heard they're a lot of maintenance and I have enough hassle as it is with the 3 tanks!

So I'm looking for suggestions what to do with it. I'm open to suggestions re-arranging my curent tanks around it, possibly making the new one the livebearer tank then do something else with the small tank.

the little tank will be moving to my bedroom and the two 120l will be stacked one above the other if that makes any odds to anything! I'd like to have a bit of variety in the tanks downstairs.

so yeah, what would you do?

danio themed tank
barb themed tank
rasbora themed tank

I say themed as it would still allow you bottom dwellers (corys, loaches etc) rather than saying danio only tank etc.

never been keen on barbs :/

already got rasbora's and would be putting some danio's into the livebearer tank..... really wanted something with a bit more variety form what I've already got.

I do quite like the idea of a species tank or themed tank like you said though, just not sure what! one idea i had is make the 120 the livebearer tank and then put dwarf puffers in the little tank

thanks for the suggestions though! keep them coming please

just had another thought
how about an albino tank?

hmm, different species but all the albino varieties yeah?

interesting very interesting! quite like that one :D what would you stock with then if you were doing that?

oh just realised I've the start of that on it's way anyway, got an albino plec coming from my fella's tank, was gonna put him in my bigger tank but he could go in the 120l always got room to re-home him if he gets too big for it.

never been interested in breeding anything to be honest.

surley for lots of plecs you'd need a really big floor space but not a lot of height anyway, would have thought it'd be quite a specialised tank for that. This one is 4 foot long a foot wide then a foot and a bit deep :/

if you want to breed something like plecs, which you don't, and you have alot of money breed zebra plecs  well thats what i'd love to do if i had the money. sorry just saying this even though you don't want to.

how about using it for some sort of bio-type like asian river or something? i'd use it for a species tank of something like puffers though/

:good:

yeah zebra plecs are nice, and if I started breeding I know Ian would never leave me so that's a bonus.... well sort of!

really don't know why I've never thought of breeding, just doesn't really interest me, if they have babies then that's great.... I pretty much leave it to natural selection though, what survives survives, if I kept everything from the livebearers I'd really struggle to find room for them all! each to they're own though I guess.

saw someone say they were doing a river type tank.... sounds nice, but like a lot of work... (correct me if I'm wrong though) if I'm getting something high maintenance it'd be the malawi's, it's just the work that's putting me off

I am tempted with dwarf puffers though, they are very cool!

maybe doing it as a proper planted tank, stocked very lightly with a few danio's, tetra's etc, would mean Ian gets to buy and play with T5 lights and CO2 and all that sort of stuff.

or going from the idea of an albino tank, we might do black and white, as we've a lovely pair of black angels, 2 black molly's and an albino plec that will all need rehoming in the not too distant future.... could go from there and just add black and white fish, gravel etc think it could look quite striking :D

so thanks for the ideas... anymore greatfully received though
