Hi all,

To cut a long story short a family member has a thing about yellow, and I've said I'll try to get a yellow fish for our community tank. Its a 20gal tank with the following:

8 Neon Tetras
6 Harlequin Rasboras
2 Albino Corydoras
3 Mollies

Had a look round my LFS but didn't find anything suitable, anyone got any ideas?

If you can find some Danio sp.'hikari' the males are yellow whilst the females are blue. Also danio kerri (blue danio) are the same with males being yellowish.

There are also yellow killiefish to look for such as the golden wonder panchax or Aphyosemion australe which I have two of in my 17 gal tank with danios, the male is more orange than yellow but the female is yellow.

(Quick Thinking) Erm...How about an Orange Laser Corydoras? (Even more quick thinking) Or maybe a Lemon tetra? My LFS sells 'Rainbow' Guppies, they're kind of yellow..

Sorry, I just can't think today...

A Yellow Balloon Molly! Those are so cool and look great in a community tank! Not to mention how cute it is when it follows your finger along the glass. :p

i was gonna say that  - wish i had room for some

i saw some pale yellow angelfish in the LFS. but if they get too big they'll eat the tetras

Thanks for the thread Kev KB and for the answers obviously. I too am interested in buying some yellow tropical fish.

I thought orange laser cories were painted/dyed! I don't think they're very yellow or orange though.
Lemon tetras need specific water conditions to stay yellow... otherwise they'll turn into drab little tetras.
I think platies are great, there are lots of yellow ones around and you can basically find them anywhere.
Guppies are ok, I guess, but beware the population WILL explode, and some of the babies might not be yellow!!! Although I have to say the yellow ones are very pretty. just don't get any fish that are nippy as their tails will get ragged.
I'll try to put some photos on this post.

I thought that too, but then I found out that they're not.

Some people say that they're a colour morph of c. aneus, but other people say they're a seperate species. I've never found a mention of a a species name though.
