When I purchased my rio 125 second hand it came without the suction cups to attach the filter to the glass so at the min it's held in place by rocks but it makes it very difficult to clean the filter so i need the suction cups that click into the filter box and can stick to the glass. thanks

the juwel filters aren't stuck in with suckers, they are siliconed in.

oh i wasnt even aware that it should be silliconed into place....ive seen loads of em on ebay with suction caps attached to the filter box and the box has holes in to fit suction cups so just presumed that it would need quite big ones to fit in the holes

as the filter is detached, why not take the chance to change it for a GOOD filter?

I have no idea what sort of filter to go for tbh but i would like one instead of the crappy big box one that came with the tank not that theres anything wrong with it except the size must be an internal one though...if anyone has one going for a resonable price let me know :good:

i dont have the link, but have a look on plecoplanet, a guy called Graham has some fluval u series for sale at good prices, and he will post.
I have had some fish off him in the past he is a nice bloke :good:

in my view, almost any filter is better than the Juwel. though i understand, some disagree. the Fluval U mentioned above is a massive step forwards.
however perhaps the Eheim Biopower filter may be worth a look. my suggestion would be the 240. costly true, and you need to buy media, but they are a very good filter.

My biopower 240 came with all the media - 2 sponges and enough substrat pro to fill the 3 baskets. It may have been a bit pricey, but I can recommend it.

im fancying the eheim aquaball 180 but am unsure if this alone would be sufficient at filtering the tank, the tank is medium stocked with many several small fish, a plec, corys etc.

the eheim has really good reviews but i dont know if it would be any better or worse then the current juwel one i have?

thanks

it would be better. few, with experience of both, would disagree. but i still feel you would be better with the biopower.

well ive ended up buying the 180 aquaball today went to my LFS store and they use nothing but those filters in there stand alone tanks :good:
