i'm going to be putting sand in my new tank,do i have a layer of gravel on the bottom and sand on top,or just have it all sand,and what depth should it be.

The gravel will come to the top eventually when placed on the bottom, so go all sand.

3 or so CM for a standard freshwater tank, 5CM for a planted.
