OK so after possibly the worst experience of my life, changing substrate, my tank was finally ready this morning to add back in my little fishes!

I don't ever intend on doing a job so big ever again! But I must say I'm really pleased with the final result!

The sand is possibly a bit lighter than I would of liked but anything darker would of probably been black, I'm happy with it any way. My fish seem to be enjoying exploring their new base too, especially my little khuli, he thinks all his Christmases have came at once!

I'm off to my LFS soon to try and get him some buddies, but for now here is my new set up!

The first pic is one of my original substrate, the rest I took this morning after adding my fish back in

That is quite nice, Well done.  I bet the Kuhli will love some buddies, 4 or 5 would be great. My Kuhlis are starting to come out at feeding time, They just love blood worm.

PS

I love the floating plants, My tank is about 3/4 covered in duckweed. My fish love lots of top cover, But then most fish do.

Thank you Nick :) I'm really pleased with how it's turned out, makes all the stress worth while!!

And my LFS is ordering me some buddies for my little khuli so he should have his little friends in a week or so!

The floating plant it water lettuce and that's only half of what I had before the change I had to throw a load away as it kept getting in the way! It grows like mad though so hopefully won't be too long before it covers half the tank again, my guppies seem to like it, their fry do well in it, or I should say did until I got the German blues lol. They seem to be partial to a guppy fry here and there!

Very nice.always more satisfying after a big effort.

Nice! Yea, I'll agree, substrate changes are not fun. :X

i like the look.  while not fun, the work becomes investment.  enjoy it every day!

The sand really adds something that the gravel just didn't have! And I don't mind the color. I think it looks great.
