Stupid ?

I know this might seem quite a dumb question to most of you fish experts out there but can rays be kept in just normal tropical tanks ? Never seen them until i signed up to this forum. Where do you buy them ?

In VERY LARGE normal tropical tanks, that is. Some lfs sell them (I believe, though never seen them). Or you can order them from speicalist outlets. But we are talking serious amounts of space here.

One of the fish shops I go to have rays and they are absolutely incredible to watch! Of course once seeing them I did come home and research them to see what they required lol they do get big and as dwarfgourami says, they need a lot of space - their disc grow to 2ft and more apparently and they need tall as well as deep and long tanks - eventually, I was told, preferably 8'x3'x3' - but please correct me if I am wrong because this is all just what i have read here and there
