there is a gap in the hood, she must have jumped in the hood.

You need 5 drops of Bettafix for every one drop of Melafix. I am not as stupid as you would like everyone to think.the divider touches the top of the hood, if you looked at the picture you can see it touches the top of the tank. . however the suggestion earlier of a spare divider is a good one.
no one has answered question is my treatment of Rayne melafix and aquarium salt is ok?
dilute the melafix or you could end up killing her! or buy bettafix

I've had bettas jump through the smallest gaps, gaps that you couldn't have imagined they could even fit in to even without jumping. The good thing is no serious harm was done
thanks bronze. i really respect you and Netty's opinions so saying that this has happened before is a relief. i am glad not much damage was done, but will be sealing that screen mesh tomorrow once i get to the hardware store. hopefully she has learned her lesson for a little bit. too.Can i just say that accidents happenI've had bettas jump through the smallest gaps, gaps that you couldn't have imagined they could even fit in to even without jumping. I've had females do escape tricks out of chimneys that are about 6" above the water level!

Oh ok well that is def a boy. tell you what can you get some close up pictures of the "female" that we're not sure about perhaps when she is flaring. There is a chance it could be a boy as well. Although it doesnt look too PKish pet stores tend to sell male PK's as females.

Looks female to me Sailornight and don't worry.......as Bronze said we've had females get through the most impossible gaps. When we set up our first sorority tank one of the girls got through the tiny gap that the wires go through at the back of the tank, and we found her on the floor in the morning.......these things do happen to most of us.
Her fin doesn't look too bad and will heal up in no time![]()
