Strange Red Patch?

Hi,
Not sure how to use these forums, so I'm sorry if I've posted this wrong... Just want to say Hi to everyone, my name is Anthony.....
I've just noticed a red patch on one of my fish. Could anyone give me advice on what this may be? How to treat it if need be & Is it contagious to the other fish?

Welcome to the board.

Need more info I'm afraid.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

The red patch does it have a circling of dead white tissue around the edges, or a white centre.
Does the red patch look like bleeding beneath the skin.
Has the fish burnt itself on the heater or been attacked.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing, darting, erratic swimming, laboured breathing.

What type of fish has the red patch.
