Well, mixed updates. I found today that the tank water was a brown-green colour. It only turned so dirty after I tried to clean some of the gravel and it dirtied the water - however, I thought that the filter would fix this up. I'm afraid this could mean an issuee with the filter - how might I get rid of such dirty-looking water? It was so bad that I couldn't even see the wood in the tank. ItI did a large w/c, but the water didn't clear at all, and now it appears just as dirty as before.
On the up side, some good news. I think I'll be able to gut the tank sometime. I've been talking to one of the owners about it and I think I'll be able to do it fairly soon. Hopefully I'll be able to get this tank into a better state some time in the near future
I measured both the tanks up too. The guppy tank is 2ft long and is about 50L and the goldfish tank is around 80cm and is about 90L - only rough as I just used a ruler to measure it. I think they are Juwel tanks, or at least the goldfish one (it has one of those built in corner filters I think I've seen in Juwel tanks and I'm sure it said 'Juwel' on the hood or the black bottom 'rim' on the tank).
