I just did a water change and afterward noticed that one of my two angels is covered in a transparent slime that has collected lots of bubbles. Her fins are clamped and she's staying still at the top of the tank, looking at the surface. She's uninterested in eating.

The stats are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite <10 nitrate. All of the other fish are fine.

Any ideas what that slime is?

Its sounds like Velvet Disease.

# Scratchs against hard objects
# Fish is lethargic
# Loss of appetite and weight loss
# Rapid, labored breathing
# Fins clamped against body
# Fine yellow or rusty colored film on skin
# In advanced stages skin peeks off

You need to get some medication before it spreads to all the other fish in the tank

From what I've been reading, it sounds most like a fungal disease. I have just about every med ever made, so it's just a matter of what to use. I'm thinking about using kanamycin.

I get this all the time with water changes, large mature veil angels seem to get it the worst. All it is is bubbles of air from the water collecting on their slime coat. It looks horrible, but dissipates in a few hours.

From what I understand water under pressure can contain more gas. This gas is released when the pressure is released. The bubbles for some reason like the slime coat of fish. Since I fill tanks from a hose this shows up with my angels all the time. I wouldn't worry about it, it's nothing to add meds over.

The fish might not be eating or acting off because of the water change. This is common with most cichlids, some get used to water changes, some never do, and others it only bothers on & off.

yep. that appeared to be the case. I had done a lot of plant trimming and pulling, so I suspect it was just stress. I think they're getting ready to lay eggs again, too, now since they're cleaning my filter spout like mad.
