Stone Suitable?

Hi everyone.

Excuse me if im wrong and this is a stupid question, but did I read on here that if you put white vinegar on a stone and it fizzes you cant use the stone in your tank.

Im sure I read that but cant find where it was, or did I just read it wrong!

Also is there any stone ,gravel, rock that is not suitable to put in a tank.

It the rock fizzes it means the rock will increase the hardness of your water by adding carbonates and in turn raise the pH. This is fine if you are keeping hardwater fish like African cichlids but not good if you are keeping softwater fish. So it really depends on what type of stock you have.

Ill have a look at the link you gave me. I will be keeping neons and guppies so ill make sure its ok before I put it in there as we live in quite a hard water area already.
