Just set up my 7 gallon(30x8x8in). It's basically done except I plan on adding some floating plants once the leaf litter sinks. I'm going for a creek like feel, but at 7 gallons I'm not too picky stocking wise. Filtration is a eheim bioball rated to 15 gallons. No heater yet and unsure if I'm going to add one. I keep my room plenty warm.

Do you intend to plant the lower portion of the tank as well? If you are, then a pair of dwarf puffers would be neat, but you would have to add a heater. Or you could always go for the ever popular betta fish. A small group of endlers (all male) would appreciate the floating plants. Of course, you would do well with a colony of shrimp in a variety of species. You could do amano, cherries, bee shrimp, etc. I love shrimp tanks.

What kind of fish appeal to you?

ok nano tank fish i know a little about a group of 8 of any of these will work dwarf barb, guppy, chilli rasbora, lambchop rasbora, yellow neon rasbora, neon tetra, black neon, threadfin rasbora, galaxy rasbora allot of these fish will have to be ordered in by  your local fish shop most of them will do it just ask or 10 endlers livebearers for a species tank peacock gudgeon could owrk betta dwarf gourami with 8 of any of these corydoras habrosus, hastatus, pygmaeus habrosus acts like a cory while the other 2 act like corys half the time and tetra the other half hope this helps

I sort of disagree with some of the fish Noobgamer has suggested, Guppies, Threadfins, Lambchop, Dwarf Gourami, and probably the Pygmy Cory species are all either too big or too active for this small a tank.

For me I would look for one of the more unusual Badis species like Clown Badis and do a trio of them, 1 male 2 female there are other options and they all have loads of personality and are perfect for this kind of tank. You could then do a group of a small shrimp like Bee Shrimp which are black and white but it depends on what you can find.
