Hi guys, finally got some fish into my newest tank. It is a second hand Rekord 96 i bought off ebay.

Anyway......................i have got sand in there with plants, rocks and a bit of wood and want suggestions for fish to stick in there to go along with my 1x male dwarf gourami, 2x rams and 3x oto.

I will get some pics up when i can get my hands on a decent camera.

Suggestions please!! Thanks a lot

As with many threads for suggesting stock, one usually finds the suggestions coming from personal favourites. So here we go.....

A shoal of small fish would go well in a planted tank i.e. tetras, rasboras etc. Neons or cardinals spring to mind for high impact colour, harlequins or glowlights for a more subtle look. Go for a dozen or so fish for a nice effect.

You reckon i would be able to put a shoal of say 12 fish in there with What i have?

I want a bristlenose too. They are awesome!!

I have two Bristlenose catfishes and they are great to watch. One seems to have taken the Bogwood as her domain whilst the other, larger one, seems to have taken the pot as hers. I say their females but i'm only assuming they are because of the lack of the bristles, although i'm not sure if they get the bristles until their past juvenile. I guess i'll have to get another book and have a read of that also, along with the 2o i'm currently trying to read at the moment.

PS: I have a shoal of 8 Zebra Danios who really light the tank up with their gold and silver colourings, if thats any help. :)

12 small tetras/rasboras plus your present stock would be fine, especially if you are well-planted (plant growth provides additional water purification). A bristlenose too would be ok although it may munch on softer plant tissue, a bit of a gamble there. Otos and Amano shrimp are ideal candidates for algae eating.

Well, I finally got my Bristlenose this evening and he is in there now. Will see how he gets on in the morning with the plant munching. I suppose if he is eating them, i will have to get tougher plants. I am not heavily planted, but i have a fair few in there.

Thinking maybe about 8-10 rummy nose tetra or zebra danio. Cheers for the ideas guys
