Well i finally got my mum a 40L tank - L-35 H-30 W-38cm
SO i am deffinately putting a Betta in, but was thinking what else i could put in with him??
Small tetra??

I'd go with an a contrasting colour to the betta; if you have a red betta, green neons, dwarf emerald rasboras or celestial pearl danios. If you have a blue betta, ember tetras or mosquito rasboras

10-12 either Chilli Rasboras, Dwarf Emerald Rasboras, Celestial Pearl Danios, Spice Rasboras
2 Amano shrimp

OR

Plenty of plants
6 either Chilli Rasboras, Dwarf Emerald Rasboras, Celestial Pearl Danios, Spice Rasboras
3 male Endlers
2 Amano shrimp

The rasboras will feel that bit more secure, and therefore likely to swim in the open, if they know they have plenty of plant cover to run off to in case of emergency. The fighter will love the plants, as he can be lazy and sit on a leaf. If the plants include some Java Moss, the rasboras might even breed.

FM calls them mosquito rasboras, I call them chilli rasboras. Either way, Bororas Brigittae

i will have to look around in my LFS's for some of them, but i found some georgous betta's, green neons and ember tetra's on livefish.
They didn't have any of the rasbora's you mentioned -.- but my mum likes the look of the green neons - she loves the neons in my tank so i wasn't surprised so i think she will be buying some black gravel now ( the green neons would blend into the green gravel we have in at the moment )

i am going to go out and try to find bottled ammonia, where would you buy it?? i have never done this before so no idead where to buy it from

-.- been searching around for ammonia today and all i have found is cloudy ammonia which kinda foams when i shake it -.-
