Stocking Suggestion

6 months ago I upgraded to a Fluval Roma 200 so I'm looking for suggestions for fish which will occupy the upper levels of the tank. At present I have the following

1 Koi Angel, a pair of Pearl Gouramis.
4 Congo Tetras, 3 pairs of Cherry Barbs,
4 Glow light tetras, 9 Cories.

We are in a hard water area, running an Eheim 2224 external filter, a planted tank with CO2 diffuser.I don't want livebearers such as Swordtails, Platties or Guppies, having had them in the past. I know Danios would fit the bill but had them several years ago and they proved not hardy so would like sometime different. The fish can't be too small as they would be a meal for the angel. Some medium size fish or a group would fit the bill.Thanks

I would up the congos and make certain you have males and females for color and activity. Mind seem to hang out in the top half the tank. So will the angel once bigger.

rummy nose tetras are great shoaling fish, mine swim back and forth as a tight group all the time! Also neons give a lot of colour to the tank and look lovely against my plants. Both are fine with my angel although have had him since he was a tiny weeny baby!

Some Angels will eat neons. You might could get by with about 9 marbled hatchetfish. Just make sure your water quality is well kept. I plan on getting some soon.

I would up the numbers on almost all your shoaling fish. Generally, if it is a schooling/shoaling species (such as tetra, barbs, danio, rasbora, corydoras) the rule is NO LESS than 6. That way, the fish feel more secure, and will live longer lives. Raising them in a group less than 6 is asking for some bad diesases and short lifespan. Not trying to be rude, just trying to give you some examples of why it is a good idea to get 6. :blush:
