Hi,
after having a few pH problems with my tank (well documented on this site  ) I've finally got a stable ,happy fish tank. However, every now and then ,i think it could do with a few more inhabitants. What i want to know is,would you add anymore fish to this tank, and if so what would you add and why?

30 Uk Gal (48inx12inx15in)
1Pearl Gourami
10 Cardinal Tetra
4 Bronze Cory
3 Albino Cory

Hi Jimmy,

So far you have:-

1 x Pearl Gourami (Trichogaster Leeri) - Adult Size 5"
10 x Cardinal Tetras (Paracheirodon Axelrodi)- Adult Size 20" (2" per fish)
4 x Bronze Corys (Corydoras Aeneus) - Adult Size 10" (2.5" per fish)
3 x Albino Corys (Corydoras Aeneus)- Adult Size 7.5" (2.5" per fish)

Thats a total of 42.5" of adult fish.

The 1" per gallon rule is usually based on US gallons, so 30 UK Gals = 36 US Gals.

Going by that you're slightly over, but in this case where almost half of your fish length is taken up by corys which produce very little waste compared to some other fish, i'd say you're ok to go to 1.5" per gallon (54"), so long as your filtration is sufficient.

That gives you another 12" to play with (no jokes about that please, I am aware what I said   ).

How about a shoal of 6 Harlequin Rasboras (Trigonostigma Heteromorpha) or Rummy-Nose Tetras (Hemigrammus Bleheri / Rhodostomus).

Cheers :good:
