Stocking query from a newbie

Hello all! I am due to be getting a 29 Uk gallon tank. I have been looking what fish I would like and this is the list I have so far:

1 Bristlenose pleco
6 or 7 harlequin rasboras
3 or 4 sparkling gouramis

I have been doing tons of research but am still a newbie to the fish world so I just want to check with you all if this list seems ok? Will these fish be happy together in a 29gall tank? Will 3 or 4 gouramis be enough or should I get more if I can?

And just to save you all from worrying and asking yes I know all about cycling and will be doing a fishless cycle when I can track down some ammonia. I was sure they sold it at my local chemists but they told me today they don't anymore because people were buying it to throw in peoples eyes during robberies and muggings!

The mix of fish you want sounds fine. To calculate how many it's an inch of fish per gallon.

If you can't find any ammonia use fish food. A pinch per day.

I took a while to track down a source of ammonia and eventually got some from the aquaculture dept at the university I work at. But I did also find household ammonia in an oldfashioned hardware shop - just make sure that it does not have any perfumes or other additives (and its not 100% pure either). It worked on one of my tanks though

Fish food as mentioned, or a prawn also work perfectly fine. Just gravel vac before you add fish

Great to see someone who has done their research Nice choice of fish too. They should be fine.

That is great, thanks for the advice guys! I have made notes in my new 'fish file' and bear your ideas in mind. Now off to do some plant research!
