Well you know i was saying about a "centrepiece fish"...
well ive had an idea...
i saw some firemouth chichlids today at my LFS whilst i was getting my test kits...
they grow to 6", so i was thinking....
how about:
6 Cardinals
Pair of German Blue Rams
1 Fire Mouths
Bristle Nose Plec
would that be ok?
Firemouths look so ace...

a firemouth wouldn't really work with all of the smaller fish on that list. they're rather aggressive ( according to the fish index) and have a relatively large mouth.

Definite no on the Firemouth.

You're getting good advice here, sounds like a very nice community tank. I think that you could have a few more of the tetras though. Perhaps 8 of each, they produce very little waste. I would choose either the group of cories OR the plec, not both.

Ok no to the firemouth then.
id rather have the plec, mainly because, at my LFS, any cory is like £4.99, so to get a group would be like £25!
the BN plecs are £2.99.
so griz, your saying to stock:
8 rummy noses
8 cardianals
pair of blue rams
and a bristlenose plec?

Instead of larger shoals(8) could i not have 2 shoals of 6, and then another fish?

Yes, this sounds like a reasonable plan to me.

Yes, I think you could. What sort of fish were you thinking about? You could stick with the Amazon theme: pencilfish or hatchetfish. Another idea would be shrimp.

EDIT: Consider live plants, they would go very well with this type of setup. Check out the Planted Tank section. There are a few very easy to grow plants you could use, it doesn't need to be complicated.

Well, i know its not south american, but would something small, like the african butterfly fish work?

Actually, im thinking ill just stick to south american...
i cant really think of anything....
anyone have any ideas?

I know, but i think that it wont look as good, as it would with another single fish that doesnt shoal...
