i have an 18 gallon tank, atm stocked with the following:

- 2 dwarf gouramis
- 5 harlequin rasboras
- 3 three lined corydoras

you can find some pics here i posted yesterday.
how far am i from an optimally stocked aquarium? i'm a bit paranoid when it comes to overstocking and just need some more input.

i already had a suggestion of upping it to:

- 6 cories
- 6 harlequins
- 3 dwarf gouramis
- 3 ottos

any further advice will be appreciated!

I'd probably stick w/2 gouramis as long as they don't have any agression issues. I'd add 2 more cories and 5 rasboras. That would be a very pretty active tank.

thanks for the replies!
i'm not too keen on the neons as i would rather add a few more harlequins and keep things simple. when i initially decided on what i wanted, i was tempted to go for the neons though :D

the male gourami isnt as big of an doodie as he was in the beginning, he only chases the female when she wants some attention from him or nibbles on my plants or my cories' food. so yeah, thanks dthoffsett, i think i'll stick with 2.

under perfect circumstances (without considering minimum amount of each type of fish) i would really like my tank to look like this:

- 2 dwarf gouramis
- 5 harlequin rasboras
- 3 three lined corydoras
- 3 ottos

is there anything wrong with this?

thanks for the input, i will go and have a look tomorrow!
after this i'm definitely not adding any more fish, but would like to know how far am i from the maximum amount of fish? i just dont want to end up close to it.

cories prefer to be in groups of about 6+ you'd see a lot more of them and they're personalities if you upped the numbers.

you need to aim for around 18 inches of fish worked out on they're adult size.

so

2x DG = 6"
5X HR = 5"
3X Cory = 6"
3x otto = 6"

so you'd be a little overstocked like that but not drastically. But I'd seriously considergetting more cories and less of something else to allow for it.

:)

thanks for the help Miss Wiggle!
as i already have the 2 gouramis, 5 harlequins and 2 cories (love them so much i'd never be able to take them back), the only fish i can leave out to increase the number cories are the ottos. but they look so darn cute!

i'll probably just go get another cory tomorrow (while i know they still have stock) and take some time deciding on the rest.

appreciate the input!
