too small for tangs, i would replace the damsels with a different fish as they are very aggresive , maybe a sixline , or some small gobies, if you want them to breed i wouldnt have anyother fish in the tank, and do alot of research on raising and rearing fry, and food

do waht u want its ur tank....why dont u ask ur lfs there full of great advise...

kkyyllee, he's only trying to get feedback from people!

Budde - it seems to be mixed opinion on what size tank the Tang should be kept in, some sites say 55G and others say at least 80G. I'd personally go for the 80G as they do like plenty of swimming space. Wait around for other members who may give you the answer that you are looking for. ;)

I was considering getting a tang myself for my mixed community setup, but after reading the numberous posts of ICH issues killing off most of their stock (tangs aswell as non-tangs). I decided it might be better to avoid this fish.

I personally dont think that you should have a starfish unless you have live rock in there and the tank is fully stable and matured for around 6 months +. The reason for this is by then all cultures of food growing in your tank will be developed and so will algae as i dont think it is really known exactly what some starfish ; such as linkias eat. Also your probabbly aware that when they die they breakdown pretty fast and may cause some complications even in a tank of that size. Im sure though that heavy skimming would be a good safeguard just in case. I think that if your gonna have a starfish then its between sandsifting starfish and linkias. Linkias have the colour but they arnt very hardy, Sand sifting starfish will keep your sand squeeky clean, but may make your sand baron of life after its eaten everything.

Also on the tang, when i first started I took the view that a 55g or less would be ok for a baby tang. However my perspective has changed. A lot. See in my LFS theres a huuge FO and theres a few yellow tangs in there and i just watched them for ages and all they do is swim back and forthe and in and out caves, very quickly. So i suppose the ball is in your court.

I am getting more live rock soon, so I sould be fin there... I will NOT get a Starfish until it is Mature... I am going to get 1 Tang when it has been cycled for a few weeks.

Well, if you're going to go by what sellers say on the web about their stock, here's another quote regarding yellow tangs:
"Minimum Tank Size: 100 gallons" from http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_di...tid=392&N=0
(same thing also here: http://www.marinedepotlive.com/yellow-tang...sh--tangs.html)

I won't swear by everything any of the linked websites posted so far say, but the 100g min. tank size quote is a lot more consistent with that I've heard from reputable dealers and people who've actually kept the fish. Less reputable ones will even suggest fish like that for a nano, so don't trust a quote just because some website gives one that sounds appealing at the time. Having seen the difference in behavior between LFS tangs kept in smaller tanks vs ones in large 100+ gallon display tanks and at aquariums...those fish need more space.

and the website you showed us josh said they were omnivores.... i always thought they were oportunistic herbivores (veges give them nutrition, meat just fills them up without nutrition and is not needed)

Correct me if im wrong....
