Stocking Ideas ( No Not Xmas Stocking! )

I have a 70 litre aquarium which is going to be heavily planted and was after some ideas on some interesting fish that would be compatable with eachother.
I have a 125 litre community aquarium already with the usual danios, guppies, rosy tetras, so was really hoping to get some different fish in the other one!!
Any suggestions??

in my opinion...planted tanks always look best with 2 or 3 species:

a centre piece fish (normally a pair)
a shoal of cyprinids or characins
and a shoal of bottom feeders...i use this template with my tank and the proposed stocking for my tank so far is:

2 german blue rams
20 ember tetras
8 sterbai corydoras.

i find that using a few species of fish that come from the same parts of the world can look a lot more affective than a mixed community IMO

Agreed but i would have:

2 Cockatoo Cichlids
15 Tetras (which ever you like the most, i have Neons)
5-8 Corys (again which ever you like the most)

Shell Dweller Cichlids? I was thinking of doing it in a 10g but your larger tank would allow for a really really nice colony.

Well, my favorite are Bettas!! But im not allowed to use the 70 litre for just 1 fish!!
Was thinking of an all female betta group, but worry about squabbles if they dont get on!!

Would Cichlids not be too big for a 70 litres?
Are you talking about African or New world Cichlids??

all apistogramma species and rams would be fine in a 70 litre, but with german blue rams you have to pick tank mates carefully due to temperature preferances

i have 4 females in a 30g and they have there odd little fight but theres never and marks on them most of it they just flare aat each other when theres food in the tank and the more there are the more the agression will be spred out so females would be fine in a 70l. if you still dont want them then i would get
a trio of apisto
15 tetras
5 corys
