Hi Guys!

I have bought 2, 1000L tanks. I have decided for one to be marine and the other tropical. I need stocking ideas for the Tropical Tank. Also along with sand, gravel, rocks or plant base. What plants I shoudl put in e.t.c.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Do you want a community or a specialist setup i.e. large cichlids, what are the dimensions of the tank?

With a tank that sizw, I'd imagine you could have just about anything you wanted! Obviously there'll be a few massive species that wouldn't be advisable but you have a hell of a lot of choice. I'd have thought compatibility between all the species would be a bigger concern.

Weird, looking at the link though it has the dimensions contained within it, 72*36*27 so its a 6 foot tank, that leaves you with some nice options. As before, community or specialist?

I would like to make it a community tank.

But I do already have a 34L tank with male livebearers and a betta. And a 260L plant tank containing to fish at the moment.

Wow! What did you do, win the lottery!?

The conversion rate is 6ft x 3ft x 2.4ft (L x W x H). Thats a seriously big tank!

More to the point, what are you doing about filtering it? It doesnt appear to have a sump so assuming something like 2 x FX5s per tank or something!? That will set you back nearly £600 for 4 of those!! :S

Personally, I'd go with a biotype. In fact, I got my hands on a 110G tank 6 feet long, but much different in terms of the other dimensions. Only 18 inches wide and 24 inches high.

You can have quite a community - within a specific biotype. We are going South American...

If I were you, I'd go Asian, perhaps more specifically Indonesian. I've always been fascinated with Rainbowfish, and with a tank of that length, you've got plenty of length for them.

This is an enjoyable thread with lots of answers. MBOU, the idea is to buy the 2 tanks, get them all set up and then keep them forever! Anyway I want to set the tanks up really nicely and I will keep them running for quite a while. Does anyone know how easy clownfish are to keep in a 300gal tank.

Wow, I am so jealous! This doesn't help your stocking issues, but can't wait to see pics of the tank when all set up! :)

On a tank that size I would go for clown loaches and bala sharks then fill in from there. I have a small group of clown loaches in my 92 gallon corner and they are great active fish.

What were the plans for filtration? I ask because it would make a difference to what I would suggest for stocking!! I have so many ideas lol! But bigger fish obviously need insane filtration and already at that size.... you will struggle to find filters to cope...

2 x FX5s or 3 x 406 or 3 x EX1200 and so on....
