Stocking Help

Don't get a pair - either get a trio of dwarf gouramies (1 male, 2 females) or stick with the single male. Many shops sell them as pairs but you are much better off (and so are the fish) if you can either persuade them to sell you two females and a male (they usually agree to this) or if you buy a single male from elsewhere.

Remember to fishless cycle before adding any fish. None of those you are planning are particularly hardy and most will not survive the cycling process.

In fact with the panda cory's, I wouldn't add them straight away even with a fishless cycle. Unfortunately i'm speaking from bitter experience, and only 2 out of 6 survived for me. Wait a few months before adding them.

Well seeing as you say that :p I should add that the same applies to dwarf gouramies.

Alas.. i would agree.. I should have mentioned that too.. I kicked off with a really bad bunch of fish to start off with..

2 anglefish.. Both died after a month or two
3 dwarf gourami.. both females died quite quickly, the male lasted about 10 months, but died with some sort of bacterial infection
6 pandas.. as i said 4 died..

bad idea...

So please.. start with some hardy fish.

I added pentazona barbs straight away. although people say they are open to whitespot, i have had 100% survival woo...

So please don't learn the hard way like me. after a few - 6 months you can add less hardy fish and have far less problems.. My tank is now pretty rock solid (after ditching that darn juwel filter for an eheim hehe.. )

Yeah I know about the fishless cycling, I'm starting that next week once the tank arrives.

If I was to get 3 dwarf gourami's, how many of the other fish could I have. As well as the Gourami I was going to have:

Threadfin Rainbows x 6
Zebra Snail
Panda Cory x 4 or a Candy Stripe Pleco.

Can I still have those or will it be too much for the 25 gallon?
