Stocking Help For A Newbie?

I currently have 2 tanks. I got the 29 US Gallon to start off and then got sucked into the hobby and now I have a new addiction. I recently got a 55 US Gallon and will start to cycle soon.

The 29 currently holds:
2 x green severum (I NOW know they will get too big for this tank)
1 x feather fin catfish (also will grow too large for this tank and the 55, will re-home eventually)
2 x kuhli loaches
1m 5f x kribensis (one established pair)
3 x rosy barbs
1 x rubber lip plec

I will be moving the sev and the featherfin to the 55 gallon. The rest is up in the air. And as far as new additions I would love a few suggestions. There are so many kinds of fish out there. I dont even know what I want or what gets along. The 55 gallon will have sand.

I personally would up the amount of ruby barbs, they like company, 4 is absolute minimum but try 8-10, they are lovely active fish, so I would also move them over to the 55 and up the numbers.

I'm not sure about the cribs, but won't the established pair get aggressive towards the others, not 100% sure though. I'm not confident on the fish you have in their, so I'm not sure what will be compatible, someone with more experience will be along shortly

The current residents get along right now. When breeding the kribs do get a little bit agressive, but nothing serious. I have thought about splitting them up. I know I need more rosy barbs but they are not my favorite. Thanks. What about danios??

Have you got the option of splitting the filter media from the 29g between both tanks, so you can seperate the fish now? If you split the media based on the approximate volume of fish in each tank and your 29g filter has been used to the bioload for at least a few weeks with no new stocking, there is no need to fishless cycle the 55g.

The most obvious split is to seperate the temperate/fast water fish (Rosy Barb and Rubberlip) and the tropical species, depending upon the dimensions of the 29g, but I would be really concerned for those Kuhli Loaches sharing the tank floor with six Kribs.

I do have the option of splitting the filter media but I don't really want to. I am curious to try a fishless cycle. When I got my first tank set up I just filled it up and put fish in it because I didnt know any better.
