Stocking For A Rio300

You could have more angels, maybe keyhole cichlids, I maybe attempting blue acara in with my angels in a 300 (but I do have another tank to move them too), I have rams in with my angels without problems.

a group of angelfish with bolivian rams always looks nice

heres some inspiration (not my tank)

just look at the min dont no what i want tbh just some lists will be good a fancy some rams like is there any othere fish than discus that can go with blue rams??????????????

i would get a pair of breeding angles.

then a few pairs of dwarf cichlids like blue rams, cockatoo's, agazzis gold rams, bolivian rams, keyholes etc

and then a nice shoal of cardinals or something similar.

300 liters good sized tank lots of options for you especially if you want bigger cichlids. 300L is about the right size for a Severum of some kind loads of varieties but the most common are the green, gold and red spot/ super red I would have these hands down but thats because they are my favorite fish :)

In a 300 liter there are two directions you could consider. The first one is where you get a wet pet, like an oscar or similar. This is a fish that has lots of personality but a bit too aggressive to house with other fish unless it was in a much bigger tank, you also have some central american cichlids like Vejias.

Then you have options of a cichlid community, this is where you have like 4 or 5 cichlids (depending on species and sizes) in a tank of this size and other fish that are not territorial like schooling fish and catfish etc. So fish that work in this kind of situation would be, Severums, Blue Acaras, Convicts, Sajica, Electric Blue Jack Dempsey, you also have pike cichlids as well like Crenicichla sp. Belly Crawler (though be careful with pikes as some of them get absolutely massive). In this kind of situation I would keep singles of each to avoid breeding situations as this could stress everyone out. Though then again thats an other route for you to consider if you wanted a breeding pair of something?

Then again actually in that size tank you could do a fantastic Geophagus tank, have a google of Geophagus Tapajo sp Red Head and Geophagus Altifrons and also Cupid Cichlids. These fish work best in colonies and for example in your 300 liter you could maybe do 5 of the redheads and 6 of the cupids with a mix of catfish and medium sized tetras like bleeding heart tetras or flame tetras. The most important thing for this tank is to have a sand substrate because they sift the sand through their gills, so they like take a mouthful of sand spit the sand out backwards through their gills and then eat the food left in their mouths. I got some the other day and my sand has little dimples in where you can see where they have eaten the sand lol.

Hope thats helped a bit :)

*edit - sorry just realised you had an angel in there already, that kind of alters what you can have from the above list as some angels are a bit squishy compared to some on those lists, could still possibly work with the geos though.

With Angels you could look at Festivum, Rainbow Cichlids, Sajicas, laetacara sp, smaller Geophagus, Gymnogeophagus, etc..

thanks that helps alot was thinking of moving my discus into there and havin the 200L for my snakeheads. i might just get on with it and do it and try and get a pair of snakeheads for my 125L hate thinkin of what fish to get!!!!!!!!!!!
