Hi all,

Have posted a fair bit on here recently, but would now like some stocking advice, as you can see from my sig below these are the fish I currently have. I would like some more without overstocking, and ideally something colourful to stand out in the tank. The tank stats are currently

PH 7.5
Ammonia 0
Nitrates 20
Nitrites 0
Temp approx 24C

Any suggestion would be great.

Thanks

Rickster

You have some fish that are going to grow pretty big there - the shark will be about 5 inches and the 2 clown loaches 6 inches each!

I know about the Clown loaches, so when they do get too big, they will prob have to go, what I would like is some fish that will not grow to big, but are colourful, maybe a feature point for the tank?

just replying cause i'm having trouble getting people to reply to my stocking posts also. i feel your pain haha.

what about an angelfish or gourami?
i don't know much about your stocking limit

you might want to figure out what you're going to do with that shark and the clown loaches sooner rather than later. if you got rid of them you would have a lot more room.
if you want just colorful fish in general serpae tetras a medium sized tetras and will add some color to your tank.
another suggestion would be rainbowfish or bosemani rainbows? something like that..but i don't think your tank is big enough for them, i don't really know, just trying to think of some colorful fish for you to research. good luck

Hi CKutz thanks for the reply, had 2 gourami recently but they died within just over a week of each other. Think they were attacked by the shark, so will give them a miss. Would the angels not eat the smaller fish? will research the other fish you metioned though, so thanks for the advice.

My advice is to have rid of the clowns and the shark ASAP. They are both beautiful fish that I wanted when I saw them too but after some research decided they would grow too big for the accomodation.

Once they are gone up the shoals on the Danios and Barbs a touch as I believe they are not at their best in such small numbers.

You could also try Amano Shrimp and/or 1 x Bristlenose Plec, both very beautiful and also seek and destroy most algae and uneaten food. Shrimp are very interesting to watch, at least for me! If you go for the shrimp buy a few larger ones to start with to see how they get on.

Thanks Ben, I am considering removing the shark/clowns, any other fish ideas?

It might also be worth rehoming the Sucking loaches as these can be very aggressive as they mature.
With those and the other Loaches/Shark gone, you could up your numbers on the other fish as Ben suggested.
If you want colourful fish, then you could try:

Glowlight Tetras
Red Honey Gouramies
A pair of dwarf Cichlids eg. Rams, Apistogrammas etc.
Cardinal/Neon Tetras - make sure the tank is mature before adding these.
Dwarf neon Rainbows
Harlequin Rasboras
