Stocking Advice Pls

My rams did NOT get along with my dwarf gourami and I had to move the gourami to another tank. I even tried reintroducing it a month later but still all loathed each other. Not saying it will happen with your gouramis for sure, but is a possibility - same with the angelfish. Can't always predict these things.

I know. That's the problem, there's no way to make a planned stock list and end up with 100% compatible fish in the end because they have individual behavior like any other living thing. Gouramis CAN be compatible with angelfish but that doesn't mean they will be. I guess I'll have to be as prepared as I can and just try it out.

I was calling around trying to see if I can find bolivian rams locally and I'm running into problems. German blue rams are available often but not the bolivians. I love the GBR's but I'm worried that they wouldn't do well in my water parameters....of course...they are highly available here so someone must be keeping them including the LFS... If I CAN get the GBR's instead it would be much easier for me to end up with breeding pairs since my LFS will take the un-paired fish for credit. Ordering Bolivian rams online doesn't seem like a great idea since my lFS told me the aren't popular here and they don't order them at all...SO I could order some and never get a breeding pair, and I would have no way to exchange them out.

Well that's your call really. Gbrs do like it quite warm so the rest of your stocking would have to be happy in higher temperatures.

There's still always apistos. Can they order any of those?

I will check when I make it up there this weekend. There is another shop I haven't called yet...luckily they are the last group of fish I will add so I have plenty of time to find the right fit for my tank

Thanks for helping soybean :)

Right now I have 3 Bolivians and 3 opaline gouramis and they dont pay no attention to each other and when they do see each other no type of aggresion is shown...I depends on the gouramis personality

Well, officially decided on Apistos. Already placed an order with my LFS, just waiting it out. Here's my finally stocking. Please throw me an opinion. Especially on the ratio of apistogramma.

46G Bowfront:

2male/4 female -apistogramma cacatuoides double red
3-Platy
11-15 Von Rio Tetra
8-10 Albino Cory
1-CLown Pleco
apple snail

sounds very nice but if i could suggest rethinking the apple snail as aparently they really dont do well in aquaria. nerite snails are nice :good:

I have constant overstocking worries...but my tank looks a little empty around the mid-top. I would love to add something individual But I wan't to keep a good balance and don't want to overload the tank.

Think I could add something. and what? With the apisto's, I don't think a smaller gourami would work. Would anything?
