i have a 120g tank with sand and a black backround what can i have as stocking with 3 convicts not a breeding pair just 3 males and an albino oscar
I would like 1 or 2 other big fish like a JD or something plus a schooling fish and maybe something for the bottom thanks
Tank is 5ft

I suspect you are very borderline for having tankmates with an Oscar at 120g.

What are the tank dimensions?

Not sure its jewel rio 400 and all will be added as juvieniles
Plus oscar is friendly and never eat live foods

All mine are doing fine...

Tiger Oscar
Breeding pair of jewels
Breeding pair of dempseys
1 green severum
1 orange spotted Pleco

Same tank as yours with black sand, 2 300 watt heaters, a couple of plants and some pieces of bogwood. Filter is a fluval fx5. 30-40% water change and vacuum once a week. All where added as juveniles :)

So would the stocking work from my other thread as
1 oscar
2 JDs (hopefully breedin pair )
Convict
6 silver dollars
6 pictus catfish
Also is the black sand nice i was thinking playsand with black backround

Not too sure about the catfish... I know they are very active though.

Iv used play sand, well I'm actually still usin it in 2 of my tanks but the only problem with it is it sometimes gets a build up of black (think its bacteria??) underneath it as its so dense when wet...

The black sand i have in the rio 400 is IMO much better and it also looks nicer and brings out the colour more in the fish. I payed £25 for 25kgs and a further £10 for another 10kgs bag and that was plenty. It's Limpopo unipac black sand. it's jet black in the bag but more of a brown/grey when in the tank but in a way I prefer it

Also if u where to get a dark background it would work well with darker sand and really bring out the colours of your fish :)

Ok wher did u get ure sand and my tank with pkay sand gets that black stuff under it

Yeah I'm pretty sure the black stuff is harmless but it doesn't look too good.

I got it delivered from a site called chemistdirect... Can't remember if it was chemistdirect.co.uk or chemistdirect.com

Try both :)
