Stocking 55 Gallon

Well I want to stock a 55 gallon fish tank and i know i want a species only fish tank. The question is what fish would u guys recommended. Also if I wanted to start a badis species only fish tank how many could i put i there open to all suggestions

It is a 55 gallon long and i like plants and i wouldnt mind putting it in my tank
