I'm going to convert my 50gal long from an angelfish tank to a Tanganyikan tank and want to figure out stocking.
Some species I like:
-Any small shell dwellers (though I can pretty much only source multifasciatus where I live)
-Leleupis (though apparently these are very aggressive, I'll put lots of rock and room to break the line of sight but I want to know you guys' experiences with them)
-Cyprichromis (very hard to find where I live, if anyone knows anywhere to source them in Australia online or in person in Melbourne that'd be great!)
-Princess cichlids
But I'm also open to any other recs. I'm obviously not going to try and house all of these in the same tank. Any other advice for Tanganyikan tanks for a first timer would be great!

I would look by niche. Identify a bottom dweller, and a midwater swimmer. Then in a tank that size, stick with 2 species.

Yeah, I think a shell dweller and some cyps would be nice but they're both hard to get and I've heard conflicting things about the minimum length for cyps (I have a 1m tank).

Would julies with shell dwellers be good? Or would they be competing in the same environment.
