Hello there everyone!

I recently purchased a 55 gallon tank to move my mixed African Cichlids out of my 30 gallon because they are all about 3 inches and those hormones are kicking in with full force.

This leaves me with an empty 30 gallon tank 30x12x18. I thought about keeping it for a hospital tank, but I already have a 15 gallon tank for my hospital.

Does anyone know of any stocking options that can work in a 30 gallon tank? I was thinking perhaps some of the dwarf mbuna such as Pseudotropheus saulosi.

Does anyone know anything or have an experienced opinion. I am aware that making a 30 gallon into an african cichlid is typically a bad idea, but can't hurt to ask right?

Thanks for your time everyone!

Best regards,

CollegeGuy

My first tank had same footprint as this one but only 15" high (20gall)... could make a nice Tanganyikan tank, shell dwellers or julidochromis or a nice tank for punctatus..... you have a few options there, maybe even a multifasciatus conliny and some julidochromis on the rocks :good:

Cheers, Sean

Agreed, Tanganykian cichlids are a better choice for a 30 than Malawi of any sort. Multi's and a pair of J. transcriptus or N. buescheri would be fine, could also add a single Calvus if you wanted to.
