Ok, thanks for the advice again.
I may change my substrate to sand in the near future.

Ignore sand completely if you want plants. Im currently in the process swapping from sand back to gravel on 2 of my tanks. Its far too much hassle.

darkentity: why should you compleatly ignore sand if your getting live plants? ive just bought lots of sand from one of my tanks but it has plants in, i though the plants grew well.
