Well, i just wanted to know if i could stock my tank alittle more? Maybe 4 glowlights and a twig cat fish? Its also a heavily planted 24" 18gUS/15gUK tank witha 800lph filter.

Cheers, adam.

Hi adam :)

I think you need to sort out your current stocking before you add anything more to it, just a few problems i can see from the list.

That RTBS needs a bigger tank and is going to get aggresive with it's tank mates sooner or later because there simply isn't enough room for him.

The betta and dwarf gorumai are not compatable, even if everything seems okay right now, it might not be tommorow :/

Bronze corys and tetras really need to be kept in shoals of no less than 6 for their own comfort.

Personally if i was you id:

Rehome the RTBS and the gorumai or betta
add 4 more bronze corys
add 2 more neons
and maybe even remove the kuhlis as they prefer to in groups also :good:

I think you are overstock ATM

Ill def get rid of the shark then. Maybe add a few more loaches (they dont come out much). Get rid of the betta also. I wont have much stock then...

Minus the RTBS and betta you've got a little bit of room but that'll get taken up forming proper groups. I wouldn't add any other shoaling fish to the tank, either get rid of all the neons and get a group of another small shoaling fish or up the neon count.

For bottom feeders you're probably best off with either a group of corys or kuhlis rather than two small groups of each. Is your substrate sand or gravel? The kuhlis need a sandy substrate since they dig, otherwise they'll injure themselves, corys prefer sand as well but it isn't as necessary. I have a group of four kuhlis that has been very active so far, I'd say add two more at least and you should see them a lot more so long as they have plenty of hiding spots (they really have great personalities when they feel safe!)

If you want to stock your tank a little more, adding to the existing groups rather than adding completely different fish would be your best option, you'll get better dynamics in the tank.

I'd remove the RTBS, the betta, and the khulis. Next I would add 1-4 cories, 2 tetra, 1 amano shrimp (i think they like groups not sure research that on your own.) that should do ya. A bit overstocked but monitor your nitrates and adjust your water change schedule accordingly.

Yip ditch the big fish and make up proper shoals for the Tetra and Cory etc.

if i was you, firstly get rid of the red tail shark, then either the betta or gouramie.say goodbye to the kulhis then get a few more neons and a couple of bronze corys to add to the ones you have.amano shrimp dont have to be in bigger groups, 2 are fine.15 gallons isnt as big as you think and aswell as the bio load, the room of fish to swim have to be taken into consideration

Well the glowlights are part of the tetra 'group' shouldnt they shoal together? I was thinking maybe adding one more of each of the bottom dwellers im def not getting rid of any of them though.

so...this is my desired stock:

4 - Neon tetras
4 - Glowlight tetras
1 - Dwarf gorumai
2 - amanos
3 - loaches
3 - Cory's
1 - Twig catfish

twig catfish (after researching myself as i wasnt sure) need bigger tanks than 15gallons.different species of tetra wont always shoal together.personally the stock you want :
4 - Neon tetras
4 - Glowlight tetras
1 - Dwarf gorumai
2 - amanos
3 - loaches
3 - Cory's
1 - Twig catfish
will be over stocking, i would cut out the one group of tetras and boost the other to 5 tetras.and get rid of the loaches and catfish.with 5 tetras,1 gouramie,3 cories and 2 shrimp it would look great and wont be over stocked(fully stocked but not overstocked) i hear what your saying about not going to get rid of any, but you will need to, please dont add anymore fish till you have sorted your stocking issues out. im not being rude or anything, but please dont rush and lose lives of your fish.

'Twig catfish need a minimum of 24" ' Thats what is said in the index anyway. Its the of the smaller kind (5").

For God sake, please get another tank or 2. Since you don't want to listen all the suggestions and reduce the stock of the tank. This is the only solution I see for the sake of the well being of your fish. :good:

Get another tank? Heater, filter, gravel, hood, decor, tank? Im 14...

I would get rid of the shark and betta, add 2 more neons, add 1 more cory (same kind) and 1 more kulhi (same kind). Then you'd still be full and it would be a bit more balanced. You may could squeeze in the twig catfish, as I have no idea on them and their tankmates.
