First of all im sorry i cant make up my mind. I have run through this i dont know how many times as my tank continues to fishless cycle.... grrr hopefully the last time. ok so i was thinking

1-Angelfish
2-Rams
5-Upside Down Catfish
5-Checker Board Barbs
1-Honey Gourami
2-Bamboo Shrimp
8-Von Rio Tetras

I will be running 2 Marineland Penguin 350's for filters and the tank is heavily decorated with caves and plants.

I was wondering if if you all thought this was ok, or if i could add more such as a keyhole chilid, any recommendations are welcome. Do you think i need to cut anything back or increase numbers on anything. I also will be doing a 36% (20 gallon) water change every 2 weeks. The Tank is a 55 gallon tank. Now some of the fish i have in other tanks and they have to stay so let me know what you think.

Thank You,

Alex

honey gourami would do best if it was not on its own. a group 3-4 would be better

really? i everything ive read says that gouramis are territorial and it would be wise to keep multiple males together (the only thing they seem to sell in my area) but otherwise they are perfectly ok on their own? Can you tell me where you got your info? It would be helpful. Thanks

your tank is quite big (around 240 litres?) so there would be more than enough room for a couple males to have territories and for a few females to flit about. with any luck you may get a brood or two from them.
though your angel would probably eat the babies.

well do you think i would need to take anything else out? or could a add another with no problems. yea and babies is something i definately dont want.

i would have thought you'd be alright to add them. all of your stated fish are small apart from the angel.
but obviously i wouldn't add them all at once at the start, but gradually over a period of time to allow your filtration to cope.

see im confused by what your saying.... They are territorial and dont want fish in their space, but yet they want to be close to each other??? and do better in groups. Does anyone else have any info on this??? or my original questions???

I am under the impression that gourami's do the best in trios of 2F/1M. Although, I've also heard that the honey gourami's are less aggressive than the dwarfs (which I had and they hated each other..2 males). I don't really see why one wouldn't be okay on its own though if you just have one male....I'm sure if its the case someone will explain. Good luck :good:
