Hi,
We have set up a 55 gal (Ok, I'm an American) salt water tank with a sump, carbon filter and protein skimmer. We change about 10% of the water each week. After setting up and getting all the equipment running, we introduced live rock and began testing the water. For two weeks, we had readings of 0.25 ppm Ammonia, 0 Nitrates, 0 Nitrites and a good PH. The ammonia has never varied from 0.25.
We then introduced a couple of clownfish last week and the readings continue at the same levels. We've never seen a nitrite or nitrate spike, so my question is whether we should be expecting one (Have we not cycled yet?) or did the live rock buffer the readings?
How can we get the ammonia down to 0?
