Hey folks,
It's been 2 weeks since I bought a Fluval Edge tank (6 gallon). 'm still cycling this tank, but in a few days I am planning to put 3 Platies and 3 neon tetras. i think that could be pretty much it. It has gravel and quite a few live plants in it. Any suggestion on what the best stocking option could be?

All the best.

I have an Edge 12 gal ... did a fish in cycle (no live plants) took 6 weeks (and daily 30% to 50% water changes) ... set up and after 1 week I added 4 zebras ... after week 4 I added 4 corys and 2 snails ... cycled at week 6, week 7 added 6 neons ... now at about 3 and a half months since set up ... all alive and apparently healthy and behaving normally ...

Soooooo, with my limited experience I'd say a half dozen smaller fish would be at or approaching the limit of your tank capacity (especially with live bearers)... I would suggest that you introduce 3 then wait a few weeks then add the next type of fish - Platies first, I understand that Neons are more fragile and you should wait till you have cycled before you introduce them ...

I love live bearers but was apprehensive to have them in a tank with a small capacity ... you might want to rethink the Platies ... just go slow with fish introduction, monitor water parameters and do water changes daily till you are cycled ...

Good luck

Personally, I wouldn't put platies in an Edge, they're just too big, IMO.

Stick to fish that are slim bodied and grow to an inch or less.

Shrimps and a shoal of small fish suitable for nano tanks.

An edge imo is too small for platies & guppies..
I had one & soon realised it was too small for a lot of livebearers.
Endlers, Ember tetra, or some of the smaller rasboras would be ok
