Looks like your tank is cycling....Ammonia should always be zero and same for nitrIte, although I think you may have meant NitrAte is at 40 ppm. I think that might be a little bit on the hard side but someone will need to double check me on that. Not sure about alkalinity. You need to do a water change to dilute that ammonia. A typical cycled tank would read something like-
Ammonia-0, NitrIte-0,Nitrate-20ppm. Good luck my friend

lol, hmmm... seems my tank has went into a stupid cycle.. I shall fix that
