This is not your usualy starter kit of a tank, filter and heater etc that you normally get.
Recently I was in Pets@Home here with my friends mother who was buying a new Hamster cage. They sold these "starter kits" for rats, guineae pigs, hamsters and rabbits, which were also free with cage purchases over x amount.
They included things like cleaner, food, bedding, flooring etc.
Why on earth isnt there one availble for fish.
You buy it and it includes:
your water test kit
water conditioner
A filter starter (you know these stores believe in them, so it may as well be included)
basic food
aquarium salt
a general disease treatment such as melonfix (SP?)
Leaflet on care and disease prevention + diagnoses (which are free in the store anyway, the other animals actually got a book)
some active carbon.
These are all items likely to be included in smaller amounts than seperate bought items (e.g. 30ml of conditioner) but are good items to all be givento the starter person.
One of the biggest problems I found was when researchign what I needed, obvious things were pointed out, eg. a net but not so obvious items were included eg the aquarium salt (with information on the pros and cons.
